BOAT PRO COURSE 

Recreational boaters should take the Boat Pro Course as soon as possible!  This course is accredited by the Canadian Coast Guard.  Successful completion of the course qualifies you to receive the Pleasure Craft Operators Card you will require to prove Operator Competency  The Boat Pro course manual was one of the first to be accredited by the Canadian Coast Guard. During the course participants will receive instruction about:

  • Boating and safety knowledge for the new boat owner or "about-to-be" owners
  • Aids to Navigation
  • Government regulations and required safety equipment

Canadian Power and Sail Squadron's Boat Pro course provides you with the basics of legal and safe boating practices to standards prescribed by the Canadian Coast Guard. The 8-hour course overview is intended for the operators and crews of small vessels and covers a wide range of subjects including types and characteristics of boats, mandatory and suggested on-board safety equipment, emergency equipment and procedures, marine rules of the road, Canadian aids to navigation , boat maintenance and weather tips.

After passing the Boat Pro exam you will receive a Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) valid for life as permanent proof of boating competency and you will be eligible to become a CPS Associate member.

   

Past Boating Graduates may obtain a PCOC Card by calling CPS National Headquarters @ 1-888-277-2628 toll free, with a payment of $20.00.
